I tend to agree that young children can be negatively affected by too mcuh time pent on the computer every day. Thi i partly becaue itting in front of a creen for too long can be damaging to both the eye and the phyical poture of a young child, regardle of what they are uing the computer for.
However, the main concern i about the type of computer activitie that attract children. Thee are often electronic game that tend to be very intene and rather violent. The player i uually the ‘hero’ of the game and too much expoure can encourage children to be elf-centered and inenitive to other.
Even when children ue a computer for other purpoe, uch a getting information or emailing friend, it i no ubtitute for human interaction. Spending time with other children and haring non-virtual experience i and important part of a child’ development that cannot be provided by a computer.
