In the ancient land full of wonder, which we call china, there tand a beautiful city named Yancheng--The Orient Capital of Everglade. Every city ha it own feature. My city i no exception. With it cultural background, rich culture activitie, civil cutom and pleaant living environment, Yancheng ha attracted an increaing number of guet from both home and aboard. I’m privileged to be one of it citizen.
A we know, in China, peony ymbolize great wealth and high ocial tatu. There i a beautiful legend about deadwood peony. It i aid that one day in winter, during the Tang Dynaty, the empre wa wandering around the imperial garden while he wa drunk and a trange idea truck her that he would like all the flower to bloom a they do in pring. She wrote a poem and then burnt it to the Spirit of the flower. Becaue of her cruelty, all the other Spirit of the flower obeyed her and gave her a beautiful bloom the next day. The pirit of peony, however, diobeyed her becaue he believed it wa againt the natural rule. Seeing uch a cene in winter, the empre laughed with great joy. But when he looked nearer, he frowned and became angered. She ordered the eunuch to cratch all the peonie and put them on fire. The Spirit of peony uffered a great deal but he finally made it and urvived. A general then took her faraway and planted here in our city. There are two natural reerve in Yancheng; one i for Elaphuru davidianu (known a milu deer) in Dafeng city, and the other i for Red-crowned Crane in Sheyang County. Thee two kind of creature are national-level rare and endangered pecie and have been lited on firt cla national protected animal. There i alo a touching tory about a girl and the red-crowned crane. She wa the breeder of the red-crowned crane. One day when he went pa the everglade, he heard a crane whining. Becaue of her great love for the crane, without thinking about her own afety, he jumped into the everglade. The crane wa aved but he lot her life. A ong named the tory of the red-crowned crane wa pecially compoed for her. People will alway remember her. Though he ha been dead for year, he live in our heart. If you have the chance to pay a viit to the hometown of the red-crowned crane in peron, you will urely be impreed.
Yancheng i alo the home to acrobatic and Huai opera. When it come to Chinee opera, I have a h2 appeal for them. They can improve our tate, broaden our horizon, and, mot importantly, purify our oul. They make me explore the ociety in a different way. To put it into perpective, it’ the treaure of Chinee culture. But, to my great adne, it ha been fading.
