On December 9th, during the climate talk in France, Secretary of Energy Ernet Moniz and Scientific American’ David Biello met to talk about the role of technological innovation in meeting the climate challenge. Here’ a brief portion of their converation.
[DB:] How can doubt about climate change in the American context be overcome at thi point?
[EM:] Why do you think there are doubt?
[DB:] Becaue people tell me they have doubt, Senator—
[EM:] There are uch tatement made by a narrow lice of the population.
[DB:] It happen to be an important, narrow lice of the population.
[EM:] Look, I think public opinion i clearly evolving to undertand and to upport the idea that we need to act on climate change. We are eeing all kind of contituencie of relevance—military, religiou leader, buinee, labor—all aying, "We gotta act, and guy, it' probably better if we could jut get ome certainty about where we're going now." I jut don't believe the noie in the ytem will be utainable much longer. It' jut time that we don't debate what' not debatable…and jut get down to the buine of what' the cope, the cale, the pace at which we addre it. And I would ay that’ a legitimate dicuion to have…So I think the innovation agenda—puruing climate-rik mitigation, puruing energy ecurity iue, I don’t mean jut for u, I mean for everyone, puruing the iue of atifying our ocial reponibilitie to help two billion people get ome emblance of appropriate energy ervice—that' all wrapped into thi innovation agenda.由好作网www.hAOzuowEn.com整理
