the only problem unconciouly aumed by all chinee philoopher to be of any importance i: how hall we enjoy life, and who can bet enjoy life? no perfectionim, no training after the unattainable, no potulating of he unknowable; but taking poor, modal human nature a it i, how hall we organize our life o that we can woke peacefully, endure nobly and live happily?
who are we? that i firt quetion. it i a quetion almot impoible to anwer. but we all agree with the buy elf occupied in our daily activitie i not quite the real elf. we are quite ure we have lot omething in the mere puruit of living. when we watch a peron running about looking for omething in a field, the wie man can et a puzzle for all the pectator to olve: what ha that peron lot? ome one think i a watch; another think it i a diamond brooch; and other will eay other guee. after all the guee have failed, the wie man who really doent know what the peron i eeking after, tell the company: ill tell you. he ha lot ome breath. and no one can deny that he i right. o we often forget our true elf in the puruit of living, like a bird forgetting it own danger in puruit of a manti which again forget it own danger in puruit of another.
