Englih or Chinee

Scene I, I elect a coure of Wetern Economic。 I open my textbook。 It' a work of a famou American economit, written in Englih。 My teacher i peaking in a high mood, alo in Englih。

Scene II, I elect a leon of Chinee literature。 I open my textbook only to find all the famou people of China labeled with their name in letter。 Furthermore, there i not a ingle Chinee character in the book and my teacher i reciting a poem of Tang Dynaty in Englih。

Now, given the quetion "Do you agree that in Chinee higher education, textbook hould be written in Englih and the language ued in cla hould alo be Englih?" Can you anwer it jut by "ye" or "no" imply?

A i known to all, Englih i gaining an increaingly important poition in today' China。 Even kid in kindergarten have begun to learn imple word。 That' a good phenomenon, for Englih i eential nowaday。 A we college tudent are concerned, one benefit of learning thi language i that we can read the original work directly。 Thi i becaue even the mot excellent tranlator i no more than a peron, who can never totally a void adding hi own opinion to the original。 Therefore, the Chinee verion we read uually differ from the original one, and in ome cae the two verion are even oppoite in meaning。Learning Englih provide u with a poible tool to olve thi problem a we mater the writer' language, we can explore hi thought on our own。[由www.haoZuowen.Com整理]

Then, can we jut ay "ye" to the quetion given above?Jut imagine the econd cene at the beginning, will you agree to replace all our book with their Englih verion? That' more than a joke。

Englih doe help u read Englih original work, but Chinee help u learn a true China。 Chinee character are an ineparable part of Chinee culture。 Only by character can Chinee literature end off it brilliance。 Some modern tranlator have tried to tranlate claical Chinee literature into Englih。 I wa unlucky enough to have heard a o called "poem" of Li Bai。 I till doubt even now whether it i a poem of Li or jut a proe created by the tranlator himelf。 I want to cry, for Li Bai, for Chinee literature and alo for the ignorant "tranlator"。 Maybe, he jut wanted to introduce Chinee culture to the whole world, but what he ha done i jut killing it。 To learn a country' culture, epecially it claical culture, the firt thing i to learn it language。 Opinion through tranlator ometime can be helpful, but ometime, they can be fatally mileading。 Since we are Chinee, why do we give up our mother tongue and learn our own culture through a foreign language? If o, everal year later, not only the foreigner but we ourelve will be unable to undertand our culture。 By that day, Chinee culture will die, China will die, and we will jut be a group of "foreigner" with dark eye and yellow kin。

By now, I think I have found the anwer to the quetion。We had better ue the Englih original work when we learn coure like wetern economic and wetern philoophy。 A for the Chinee culture or the Chinee hitory, we hould tick to our own language。
