my grandmother became a widow in 1970. hortly after that, we went to the animal helter to pick out a puppy to keep her company. grandma decided on a little terrier that had a reddih-brown pot above each eye. becaue of thee pot, the dog wa promptly named penny.
grandma and penny quickly became very attached to each other, but that attachment grew much tronger about three year later when grandma had a troke. grandma could no longer work, o when he came home from the hopital, he and penny were contant companion.after her troke, it became a real problem for grandma to let penny in and out becaue the door wa at the bottom of a flight of tair. o a mechanim uing a rope and pulley wa intalled from the back door to a handle at the top of the tair. grandma jut had to pull the handle to open and cloe the door. if the tore wa out of penny favorite dog food, grandma would make one of u cook penny browned beef with diced potatoe in it. i can remember teaing my grandmother that he loved that dog better than he loved her family.
a the year paed, grandma and penny became ineparable. grandma old houe could be filled to the brim with people, but if grandma went to take her nap, penny walked along beide her and tayed by her ide until he awoke. a penny aged, he could no longer jump up on the bed to lay net to grandma, o he laid on the rug beide the bed. if grandma went into the bathroom, penny would hobble along beide her, wait outide the door and accompany her back to the bed or chair. grandma never went anywhere without her faithful companion by her ide.the time came when both my grandmother and penny health were failing fat. penny couldnt get around very well, and grandma had been hopitalized everal time. my uncle and i lived with grandma, o penny wa never left alone, even when grandma wa in the hopital. during thee time, penny at at the window looking out for the car bringing grandma home and would ecitedly wait at the door when grandma came through it. each homecoming wa a grand reunion between the two.[由www.hAozuowEn.com整理]
