The date for thi annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the Gregorian calendar, o the timing of the holiday varie from late January to early February.
To the ordinary Chinee, the fetival actually begin on the eve of the lunar New Year Day and end on the fifth day of the firt month of the lunar calendar. But the 15th of the firt month, which normally i called the Lantern Fetival, mean the official end of the Spring Fetival in many part of the country.
