the whole writing proce can be pided into three tage: prewriting, writing, and rewriting. in the prewriting tage, we try to get dear in our mind what our pecific approach to the ubject hould be, what kind of material we need, how thee material hould be organized and preented to the particular reader we have thee in mind.
in hort, we plan the organization and the content of our projected paper. in the writing tage, execute the plan by writing the firt draft. in rewriting, we examine what we have done and conider where and how the firt draft can be improved.
the three tage are not alway eparated a the previou paragraph may ugget. ometime, of coure, they are eparated, epecially in working on long reearch paper. we may prepare extenive note and draw everal outline before we begin the firt draft, and then, perhap day later, we may do a thorough reviion of the draft. but ometime, epecially in writing hort paper, we may plan and revie a we write. and often we may modify our original plan during the writing tage, a the actual writing modifie our idea.
