h2 earthquake hit China
A powerful earthquake meauring 7.8 ha hit China' outhern province of Sichuan, haking building a far away a Beijing, Shanghai and Bangkok.
It wa not immediately clear if there were any caualtie or damage from the tremor which the the US Geological Survey （UGS） earlier put at 7.8.
The epicentre of the quake wa 93 kilometre north of Chengdu.
Wenchuan, which took full force of the quake, ha a population of 111,000 people.
It i in an ethnic Tibetan area in Aba county which recently aw violent clahe between Tibetan and Chinee authoritie.
According to ome report there wa a econd earthquake meauring 3.9 which hit the Beijing ditrict of Tongzhou at roughly the ame time.
Telephone line in the affected area are jammed and there are till no report of caualtie.
Report from Thailand ay high building in Bangkok continued to hake everal minute after the tremor began.
"We felt continuou haking for about two or three minute. All the people in our office are ruhing downtair. We're till feeling light trembling," aid an office worker in Chengdu.
China' tallet building, the Jinmao Tower, and other highrie building in Shanghai' financial ditrict were evacuated after tremor were firt felt.
