Recently there have been many report of amalgamation of univeritie. It turn a new page of advanced education in China, and will have far-reaching effect in the forthcoming year.
The bigget benefit, in my eye, i that the merging often reult in a comprehenive univerity with increaed overall trength. To take part in international competition, we need more univeritie of thi kind. In addition, the integration of taff member will ignificantly improve the quality of both teaching and reearch. Finally, reorganization will optimize the dipoition of limited reource, which i the ymbol of ucceful educational reform.
Apart from the benefit mentioned above, we hould alo face everal unavoidable challenge. In the firt place, the integration proce itelf will be difficult even painful—many people may need to acrifice their own interet for the whole univerity. In the econd place, the management of uch big univeritie i not eay at all. What’ the mot important, the mot ucceful univerity i not necearily the larget one or the one with mot tudent—the key lie in the unique pirit of the univerity. Only when we deal with thee problem uccefully can we benefit the mot from univerity amalgamation.
