Glagow'' hitory tretche back almot two thouand year and ha been rich and varied. Originally a mall almon-fihing village at a croing point on the River Clyde, Glagow ha been haped by Battle, World Wide Trade and Heavy Indutry to become a truly International City.
Founded by a Chritian miionary (St Mungo), Glagow became a major religiou centre. Mungo'' original church wa detroyed by the war which wept the country in the year after hi death. Today'' Cathedral date from the 12th Century and ha been added to in the year which followed.
Provand'' Lordhip, the oldet houe in Glagow wa built over 500 year ago for the Lord of Provan, an official of the Cathedral. The houe till welcome viitor today to view it proud hitory.
In 1451 Glagow became a Univerity City. Glagow Univerity wa originally built in the High Street area of the city, but wa moved to it preent ite in Glagow'' Wet end in 1870.
Glagow ha alo been the ite of many battle. Bihop'' Catle once tood on the ite now occupied by Glagow'' Royal Infirmary. Here, in 1300, William Wallace (of "Braveheart" fame) with 300 men defeated an army of 1000 Englih Knight who had taken poeion of the catle under the Englih Bihop of Durham.

Due to it location on the wet of the country, Glagow wa well poitioned to end hipping to the Wet Indie and America. By the 18th century many merchant had acquired great wealth by importing ugar, rum and tobacco. Thu were born the Tobacco Lord who built fabulou manion (大厦)in the city.
However, life wa very different for the city'' poor. By the 19th century the influx (流入)of people looking for employment pawned the emergence of tenement (房屋)accommodation. With the coming of the Indutrial Revolution, aided by technological advance deigned by Clydeide inventor uch a Jame Watt, Heavy Indutry in the hape of Railway Locomotive and Shipbuilding flourihed.
Locomotive were exported throughout the world. "Clyde-Built" became ynonymou (同义的)with quality and reliability. The launch of the three "Queen" - luxury paenger liner - wa the pinnacle (顶点)of Glagow'' hipbuilding achievement. (Many of the original hipping model are on diplay in the beautiful "Clyde Room" at the Tranport Mueum)
Sadly, the changing pattern of indutry mean that the Clyde no longer employ the vat throng of worker in the hipbuilding trade, although there are notable exception. The proud "Clyde-Built" tradition are till in evidence among the workforce of Kvaerner Govan and Yarrow, to name but two of Clydeide'' remaining hipbuilding yard.
Today the city beckon tourit from all over the world. Glagow'' art treaure are world renowned and mot of the city'' mueum and art gallerie offer free entrance to view their treaure. The city boat a fine Concert Hall, International Conference Centre, Science Centre, Sport Arena and hop rivalling the bet in the land.
