In two thouand five, Tanya Pinto wa a ucceful young buinewoman in Dalla, Texa. But he decided to take three month off from work at an advertiing company to viit her birthplace, India.
She volunteered at Mother Terea' home for orphan in Kolkata. She alo traveled, and aw children in great need.
TANYA PINTO: "And that experience wa life changing. And that' why I decided to tart a charity."
She returned to her job in Texa and began Baal Dan Charitie. In Hindi, the name mean "child donation."
India ha an etimated eighteen million poor children. Some charity worker ay the condition on the treet are, if anything, wore than thoe hown in the film "Slumdog Millionaire." Many children depend on international charity project like Baal Dan.
At firt, Baal Dan provided treet children with clothe. Today, the organization give money to orphanage, chool and local project. The money provide food, medicine, choolbook and ome education. The work i centered in Kolkata, Hyderabad and Kerala province.
Tanya Pinto tarted her project with mall donation from friend and co-worker.

Today, Baal Dan ha other financial upporter in the United State. People organize event to raie money. A retaurant in Dalla donate money whenever anyone order "Taco for a Caue."
In the next everal year, Tanya Pinto hope to begin ponoring an orphanage. She viit India a often a he can while working full-time at the advertiing company. Her lat trip wa in May.
TANYA PINTO: "I will take the children on an outing a well. I will take them to the zoo or to the park. And o I'll do thing that are really fun activitie, becaue thee are children who are living in unimaginable poverty. So I like to bring ome fun into their live."

She talk about a trip when he viited a care center operated by a local group that her charity ha helped. Two boy recognized her. They had met her at a helter at a railway tation the year before. The children, he ay, were recued from the treet and were doing well.
Tanya Pinto ay you do not have to be wealthy or well known to help other.
TANYA PINTO: "Even if you are not a celebrity, if you are not rich, if you are not famou, you can do omething to help make thi world a better place."
