it wa raining and i wa dragging myelf back from chool. father had not got back home yet and i thought he mut have forgotten it wa my 18th birthday today. if my mother had not died yearago he would have prepared lot of good dihe for my upper, but now i had to cook a very imple meal, waiting for my father＇ return.
hour paed.till my father did not appear.thi made me very ad.i couldn＇t help aying to myelf, "mum, mum ..." with tear in my eye. i felt cold and lonely, litening to the wind blowing outide and the drop of rain tapping on the windowpane.
it wa about eight o＇clock when uddenly there came a gentle knock. hardly had i anwered the door when father came in. he wa wet all over with a bouquet of flower in hi hand.
"happy birthday, my child," aid he, and pretending to be cheerful, put the bouquet of flower into my hand, "i had been toyour mother＇ gravethia afternoon.on the way home i went to many hop to get thi a a birthday preent. i hope yon＇ll like it, my dear."

“孩子，生日快乐，”他说着，强作笑颜把花送到我手中。“今天下午我去你妈妈的墓地了。回家的路上跑了很多商店才买到这件生日礼物。亲爱的，我希望你能喜欢。”
我把花紧紧放在胸前，不禁热泪盈眶。用颤抖的声音说：“谢谢爸爸，您的爱才是给我的最好的礼物。”
