Thi religiou group had begun to quetion the belief of the Church of England and they wanted to eparate from it. The Pilgrim ettled in what i now the tate of Maachuett. Their firt winter in the New World wa difficult. They had arrived too late to grow many crop, and without freh food, half the colony died from dieae. The following pring the Iroquoi Indian（美国纽约州东北部易洛魁族印第安人）taught them how to grow corn, a new food for the colonit. They howed them other crop to grow in the unfamiliar oil and how to hunt and fih.
In the autumn of 1621, bountiful crop of corn, barley（大麦）, bean and pumpkin were harveted. The colonit had much to be thankful for, o a feat wa planned. They invited the local Indian chief and 90 Indian. The Indian brought deer to roat with the turkey and other wild game offered by the colonit.
